Imelda fashion

2tay Maristela wears Louis Claparols' beaded Imelda Marcos tee and gauze jacket from SFAS.
Sometime during the Martha Stewart trials, a young designer named Rxcy Bautista (that is not a typo, that's really his name) was inspired by the Free Martha T-shirts, and created the Free Imelda T-shirts which caught the eye of the First Lady's daughter, Irene Marcos.
I'm not sure if this is how Louis came up with the idea to make Imelda T-shirts, but when he did, he made it better by embellishing them with beads.
Louie couldn't keep up with the demand, quit his day job at Paul Smith and went into business. (I wish Louis would make them again. Louis please call me if you read this.)

Yeah, I wish they can make those Imelde tee with embelishments again. `Cause I totally forgot to get one.
I adore your blog but I cannot help but comment on this Imelda fashion mis-step. I know this kind of stuff is supposed to be cool and kitschy, but hey, that woman's a criminal. I love fashion too but I'll be damned before I wear anything that glorifies someone like her. But then again, if you want to talk about fashion in the Third World, she makes a pretty good icon for that since she put us here.
Where can I find the Imelda tee?!
